Stefan Claypool
Stefan Claypool, a joint Chinese-Economics major and member of the Class of '09, is the original Mr|Tots leading man, having made his debut as Paul in the Theater's premiere episode, The Abominable Snowman. Listeners will recognize him for his role as the flamboyant superhero the Borrower in New Tales From Kafka City and for his tour de force performance as John in the Mr|Tots Adaptation of Man in the Middle, for which he won the Spring 2008 Adam Award for Best Actor in a Feature. He specializes in WASP-style leading men, sniveling toadies, pretentious Brits, and shady smooth-talkers - all of which make him a perfect fit for radio drama.
As one of the Theater's most prolific writers, Stefan has masterminded such hits as Death Ray X, Chris Kringle: Soldier of Fortune, Escape From Robot Planet, The Adventures of Skip Murphy and Duke Fowler: Nazi Hunters and The Richard Vernon Trilogy, among others. He is also noted for his adaptations of Casino Royale, The Manchurian Candidate, and The Man Who Wasn't There. Along with Derek Long, Jessie Gurd, and Nick Bestor, Stefan is the co-creator of the Theater's popular soap opera series Brookshale, in which he played Dr. Frank Wynter. His original work tends to be outlandish and often metafictional, with more than a touch of madcap comedy thrown in for good measure, although he is adept at writing drama as well.
Stefan is currently hard at work on two pieces exploring themes of revenge, redemption, and true love over different time periods. The plays, entitled Dying and Falling, will air sometime during Mr|Tots's Fourth Season. He is also planning a sequel to the The Time Presidents, among other projects.
