It’s interesting that you changed the boy “Peter” into the girl “Paula.”

Although there were plenty of child actors back in the days of vintage American radio drama, adult actresses with high voices often played children’s roles, including young boys. Some actresses even specialized in playing such parts. Cecil Roy, for example, usually played the boys and girls on Wyllis Cooper’s “Quiet, Please!” series (when she wasn’t playing the Thing on the Fourble Board). It was a widely accepted practice and probably the biggest example of overt gender-bending in old-time radio outside of comedy programs.

So it wouldn’t be a big surprise if, back in the day, a part like that of Peter had been played by an actress.
