Super Summer Serials, Part III!

Ladies & Gentlemen of Radioland,

The third part of our summer series of series is The Tidal City Chronicles, a spin-off of Kafka City following girl-chemist Lola Lee (Katie Zurbach) to the Eastern Seaboard. These two short episodes also feature cross-overs from Astonishing Stories, as Chronogirl, the time-stopping superheroine, faces off against her worst enemy, The Goatman of Maryland (Bill Noble), with the help of her other worst enemy, Switcheroo (Stefan Claypool). The Tidal City Chronicles were written and directed by Noah Mease. We hope you enjoy…

Super Summer Serials, Part II!

Ladies & Gentlemen of Radioland,

Here’s the second installment of our off-season series of series. Astonishing Stories from Salinger High: half super team-up action, half soapy teenage drama, all to the soundtrack of nineteen-fifties pop music. Each of the four episodes – which ran over the course of seasons four and four-point-five – was narrated by a different member of The Study Club, the high school superhero team that protects Plainview. And listen for a special appearance by one of the heroes from our last super serial… Astonishing Stories starred Bill Noble, Izzy Nuttall, Dave Malinsky, and Katie Zurbach, and was written and directed by Noah Mease. We hope you enjoy…

Super Summer Serials, Part I!

Ladies & Gentlemen of Radioland,

Summer is a season known for big-name stars in action-packed blockbusters, and though it’s the off-season for Mr|Tots, we’ve put together a series of our own blockbuster Superhero Serials, a ‘rebroadcast,’ (though only available here on our website,) of our favorite action series from seasons past.

To start off the series of series, we bring you New Tales from Kafka City, a trio of adventures featuring an all-star cast of Golden Age Greats, including Derek Long, Stefan Claypool, Jessie Gurd, and a young Katie Zurbach. Kafka City also marked Noah Mease’s writing debut on Mr|Tots . We hope you enjoy…

Hail and Farewell to a Father

June 4th, 2010, “a day that will live in infamy”… FDR’s words that echoed across the airwaves in 1941 after Pearl Harbor.  The radio community has lost one of its forefathers, Himan Brown, producer of over 300,000 radio programs over the couse of his 65-year radio career starting all the way back in the 1930s. He brought to the radiowaves great programs (some of which have been reproduced by Mr|Tots) such as The Adventures of the Thin Man, Flash Gordon, Dick Tracy, The General Mills Adventure Theater and many many more soap operas and dramas.

We look back now in this still young century in awe of the history of radio. The sound that brought America through a depression and delivered her through a World War. A mode of communication that reported the death of JFK and spread the fever of Rock & Roll. Despite all of the advances of technology now, take a moment to remember and pay your respects to a man and a technology that have had profound effects on the development of our technologies and culture today.

Through the Looking Glass

You followed her down the rabbit hole – now accompany Katie Zurbach through the looking-glass as she reprises her Adam Award-nominated performance as Alice. In the looking-glass world, meet a new cast of strange and wonderful creatures, including Bill Noble is Tweedledee and Noah Mease is Tweedledum. And your favorite couple from Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, are reincarnated as the Anglo-Saxon messengers Hatta and Haigha, played again by Kris Ogren and David Seamans, who also define up a storm as Humpty-Dumpty and rejoice in insects as the Gnat. Hafsa Ahmad and Izzy Nuttall are the Red and White Queens. Adapted and directed by Sasha Rivera.
